The Ithaca Apartment Company is located in the central Finger Lakes region of New York and is based in downtown Ithaca, New York. The company was founded in 2000 by Brian Grout who continues to be the owner.

All of our unique smaller rental property buildings are located in some of the best downtown Ithaca neighborhoods. All are within a short walk to the vibrant Ithaca Commons and most just a short distance to all needs such as grocery stores, coffee shops and dozens of excellent restaurants, theaters, museums, pharmacies and mass transportation.

For the past twenty years, the IAC is proud to have housed over two thousand students from Cornell, Ithaca College and others in our well maintained -amenity laden, safe and affordable units. All of our units have been thoroughly upgraded and most benefit from hard surface flooring, energy efficient windows and doors, dishwashers, safe and efficient heating systems on site laundry, complimentary trash and recycling removal and reserved off street parking. Since the company was founded, one of our consistent customer goals is that "We will exceed your expectations".

Brian Grout - Principal Owner

I grew up in the lower Catskill Mountains of New York and earned a BS degree in Political Science and Economics at the University of Northern Colorado. After working primarily in hospitality industry, Brian was fortunate to “discover” the beautiful Finger lakes region and unique- funky town of Ithaca in 1990.
 
At the “youthful” age of thirty, I started Brushworks Painting Company which through hard work, attention to detail and a great staff grew into the third largest paint contractor in Ithaca. I always had an interest in owning rental property. With a limited budget at first, I started buying “distressed sale” properties, completing full renovations and then renting them out. I really enjoyed the construction process and was always proud when they were completed to become “the nicest house of the block” and to welcome the first tenants to their new home. I am proud that the company portfolio has grown over these many years and I continue to be actively involved. One ethic continues to drive me both in business and personally, you’re known for how you treat people, it’s as simple as that. 
 
Brian is a 21 year member of the Landlords Association of Tompkins County and is currently on the Board of Directors. He is also a member of the Tompkins County Chamber of Commerce, the American Apartment Owners Association and volunteers in several local groups. In his free time, Brian enjoys working on his farm on the west side of Cayuga Lake, dual sport motorcycle riding, camping and the outdoors.
